Music at Trinity Church has always been an important means of leading worshipers into the presence of God. We hope to accomplish that with thoughtful choices of service music, organ music and hymns, all chosen to reflect the themes of the day, all aiming to make the gospel relevant, present and understood.
Trinity has a small choir of four adults and seven young people who all rehearse together on Sunday mornings at 9am. Our choir program uses the materials developed and published by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), and we hope to soon have a few singers who have mastered the second step of the RSCM program in order to be awarded their blue ribbon and medal, which is a notable achievement.
The music program is led by Maria Coffin, organist and director of music. Maria has served churches in Connecticut since 1972 and carries out her work with enthusiasm, great joy and high expectations. She is a graduate of Calvin College and the Amsterdam Conservatory and has also studied at the University of Connecticut and Union Theological Seminary School of Sacred Music. She is a member of the American Guild of Organists and the Association of Anglican Musicians and has served in executive positions with both organizations.
Trinity’s organ was built by the Austin Organ Company in Hartford, Connecticut and was installed in 1955. It serves the needs of Trinity Church very well.
New members, young and old, are always welcome to join the choir. All you need to do is speak with Maria.
